Tuberculosis was supposed to be eradicated in the early 1980s. At the time, this was the belief of many scientists and doctors. Yet, in 2014, 4,500 people still die from it daily worldwide. In addition to being amplified by the AIDS epidemic, tuberculosis has changed its face. The bacillus responsible for the infection has mutated to become more contagious, harder to cure, and completely insensitive to basic medications used for over 40 years… The arrival of a new treatment could change the game.
