The Power of the Oceans

The film

Why are some seas among the most dangerous in the world? How are the phenomena that shake them born? And can they be predicted?
Incredibly violent currents, giant waves, cyclones, underwater volcanoes: oceans cover approximately 71% of the Earth’s surface and are the stage for colossal forces. We have only begun to understand them in recent decades. From the coasts of the English Channel to overseas territories, the series The Power of the Oceans follows those attempting to decipher them: oceanographers, geologists, engineers, and sailors. Using 3D reconstructions, AI-generated imagery, and the latest scientific knowledge, it dives into the heart of these invisible mechanics. It shows how they shape coastlines and threaten humanity, and how science is learning to anticipate them.
